CDs are compact flow meters for liquids that are mounted on the pipeline/pipe by means of a metal clamp. One of the two crystals in the CD emits a series of ultrasonic signals which, having passed through the pipe wall, are reflected by air bubbles and suspended solid particles contained in the liquid, deflected by an angle proportional to the speed at which the liquid moves. A specific and sophisticated SW analyses all reflected echoes and uses these to obtain the velocity of the liquid in the pipeline and transforms it into an analogue signal scalable 4÷20mA.
For these sensors to work properly, it is necessary that

  • The flow of liquid is always at full pipeline
  • The material from which the pipeline is constructed is homogenous (steel, cast iron, iron, plastic or glass) and that it is not made of rubber or flexible plastic material or fibreglass
  • The external diameter of the pipeline is greater than 30 mm and less than 2000mm
  • Pipe thickness is less than 20 mm
  • The concentration of solid particles in the liquid both greater than 200ppm and with a particle size greater than 100μ
  • The inside of the pipeline is clean and there are no deposits on its walls

Benefits

  • Maintenance-free
  • Easy to install: mounting on duct/pipeusing a metal clamp
  • Applicable on all pipes of homogeneous material
  • Self-sufficient, does not require external control
  • Accuracy depending on installation, typical +/-5%
  • 3 models depending on pipe diameter
  • 4÷20mA output
  • RS485 Modbus RTU output
  • 1 alarm contact SPDT
  • Echo processing: RSSA (Refractive Spread Spectrum Analysis)
  • On request integral cable L= 10m, 20m, 30m, …
