The AquaRanger VHQ is the most accurate ultrasonic instrument for flow measurement in open channels to date. The system is based on the use of electronics, one or two ultrasonic/radar transducers placed above the liquid to be measured and a velocity meter. The flow rate in a channel is a function of the wetted area, which depends on the shape of the channel, the height of the liquid and the velocity. If the velocity is constant, the flow rate is a function of the height of the liquid, so only the height is measured (case A). If the flow rate depends on level and speed, both height and speed are measured (case C/D). If the area is constant (the pipeline is always full), to get the flow rate you only need to measure the velocity and the Speedy electronics display the velocity.
AquaRanger VHQ can handle all situations and provides instantaneous and total flow data and shows them on the display. It is also equipped with an event recorder (data logger) that transmits data, stores it and keeps it available for up to six weeks or more, depending on the programmed recording interval. It manages various controls using 5 freely programmable SPDT relays: alarms can be set for level, speed at which the level varies, flow rate, average flow rate, temperature, diagnostics, signal loss, etc. Programming can be done via the keypad on the front panel or via PC with dedicated SW. Programming can be carried out via the keypad on the front of the instrument or via PC with a dedicated SW. For measurements on constant velocity channels, where high accuracy (± 1mm) is required, a transducer/radar configuration is used. The AquaRanger VHQ uses all UTF series ultrasonic transducers from Terry Ferraris with a measuring range from 0.3 to 15m depending on the transducer used with an accuracy of 0.25% of the measuring range or 6mm, of the two the larger; transducer UTF03HR measuring range 0.3 ÷ 2.5m accuracy ± 2mm.
The AquaRanger VHQ transducers can be installed up to 500m away from the electronics and the speed sensor up to 100m. The instrument SW includes the most common channel profiles and also a 32-point lineariser for unconventional channels.
The VHQ can be supplied either in STD execution or with an 8GB internal memory on a removable micro SD card.
